Alison Cave.png

Alison Cave is an urban planner and institutional development specialist. She began her career working on educational development in the Middle East and North Africa at AMIDEAST at both its Washington, DC and Cairo, Egypt offices. An assignment with USAID Cairo sparked her interest in urban planning, particularly community engagement and development. Following graduate study in Urban Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she joined the World Bank Group in 1994 as an urban planner. While there, she worked on urban, environmental and disaster risk mitigation in Africa, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia, always from a community development perspective.

Alison’s work at the World Bank encompassed institutional development within the organization itself and she devoted herself to improving governance, diversity and inclusion and conflict resolution through roles with the Staff Association, the Internal Justice System and Human Resources.  Since retiring in 2018, she has been involved in mentoring and volunteer work with community and social justice organizations.
